Our therapists are experts in working with young men and their families. Each of our therapists has a caseload of only 6 boys, which is small in comparison to other therapeutic programs. This small caseload enables therapists to provide a greater deal of personal contact and involvement in the boys’ everyday lives. Furthermore, this allows our boys to have increased access to their therapists, and for the therapists to have time outside of session to spend with their clients. Every week students receive a minimum of 3 hours of combined individual and family therapy. Our intensive focus on individual therapy is one of the factors that sets us apart from other residential treatment centers.
Using the relationship-based approach as our guide, our therapists understand the clinical importance of doing therapy outside of office walls, actively seeking relationship and change, and using the leverage gained to accentuate overall health. Research supports that boys need to be physically active to improve neurological internalization. Our therapists recognize how crucial this is for our boys, and that engaging in movement and activity together will only serve to amplify internal change and health. Our therapists wholeheartedly engage in adventure therapy outings, camping trips, recreation activities, and mealtime with our students because they understand the powerful impact that their presence provides.
